DeliverE: The Future of Mail Delivery

Autonomous, Solar-Powered Mail Delivery Vehicle by Tamir Ori Mizrahi

Designed with agile movement and very few lines, DeliverE's main silhouette is inspired by the classic mailman hat. The design aims to evoke a happy and funny feeling, a crucial aspect since there is no human mailman involved. This emotion is an anchor that was learned and tested throughout the entire design process to avoid generic designs and to imply an emotion that occurs in interaction with this vehicle.

What sets DeliverE apart is its ability to deliver mail autonomously, requiring no human operator. It functions as an electric stand-alone system, using a roof solar panel to generate energy. This unique feature makes it an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional mail delivery vehicles.

The vehicle is powered by an electric motor, which gets its energy from a curved solar panel located on the roof, designed to capture more angles of sunlight during the day. Back-up batteries are located at the bottom powertrain. Inside the vehicle, there is a roll conveyor, which is loaded according to a GPS sequence in advance; determined according to the dispersion distance, to optimize resources.

When the vehicle arrives at the customer's address, a text message is delivered to the recipient. With the help of a pre-programmed GPS system, the vehicle reaches the next destination autonomously. The package arrival is a happy ceremony, from a welcoming machine, that brings a bright future from AI.

The project started in March 2019 in Turin and finished in June 2020 in Turin, and won Honda's worldwide student design competition of 2019-2020 in Rome at September 2020. The design was awarded Silver in A' Robotics, Automaton and Automation Design Award in 2021, a testament to its innovative and forward-thinking design.

The DeliverE represents a new era of AI-human interaction and is a shining example of the innovative potential of transportation design. With its unique design and environmentally friendly features, it is set to redefine the future of mail delivery.
